We Need More Storage

About The Project

There was a large false chimney breast in the centre of the room which housed the range cooker but dominated the space that could be used for more cupboards, so we discussed if this could be removed along with the oak beams to open up the space.

They wanted a modern but practical kitchen.

This is what the kitchen looked like before

The Process & The Kitchen Design & Build In Progress

Another one of there concerns was the poor lighting in the kitchen, Although they had two windows they did not give much natural light into the room, So one of the discussions was the possibility to remove the small window and reduce the hight of the larger window to allow for more wall cupboards to run all around the kitchen. This aspect was caried out by our Trusted Builder Platinum Construction.

They were also overlooked by there neighbours directly into there kitchen so reducing the hight of the window solved this problem for them.

In the initial design of the kitchen we talked about putting a lot more efficient lighting into the space with spotlights in the ceiling and led under cabinet lighting all round to give a bright warm feel to the space. Our trusted Electrician Adam from AJL Electrical Installations LTD was commissioned to re-wire the entire kitchen to power the appliances in there new position, give more socket outlets in practical places and have the lighting on separate switches so they can have just the under cabinet lights on to give a nice feel to the space when the bright celling lights are not needed.

There were other elements to this project such as the removal of the tiled floor, Which was then levelled ready for the new LVT flooring to be installed. Fitting new corner units over the Boiler and pipework that needed to be accessible for maintenance but also a usable space for storage.

The whole room was decorated after a refresh of plastering.

Here you can see the work involved and what the space looked like as things progressed.

The Results

The new layout was to change from the original to house all of there appliances in a more functional way while also providing the much needed storage solutions they required.

Better lighting was needed to give a bright when needed space to cook and a warm cosy space for an evening entertaining with family and friends.

A softer LVT floor covering was installed to give a warmer feel to the floor.

The 12.5mm thick compact laminate worktops give a modern but elegant look to the space and perfectly compliment the Indigo Blue kitchen.

All these elements pulled together to create a space that's not only much more practical but a lovely place to be.

Mr & Mr Wight are now over the moon with there new kitchen and we hope they enjoy it for many years.
